Two words best describe this flick: beautiful trainwreck. You're probably thinking that I'm saying that because a.) the film's not as good as anticipated and b.) Megan Fox is in it. The answers to that in order are: yes and no.
Megan Fox is stunning to look at and her acting chops are a bit more on display here than in Transformers. She doesn't do too bad actually, although she's outshined a little by the actress who plays her best friend Needy.
I can fully understand the challenge of marketing a movie like this. It's a dark comedy with traces of horror, overly witty and verbose dialogue and a love story/triangle in the mix too. One two and a half minute trailer just isn't going to cut it.
I was expecting a film like none other I had seen in its genre. What I got was Heathers and Ginger Snaps with vampiric demons. Both Heathers and Ginger Snaps are far superior films but if you're fans of those flicks and are looking for something like it then give this one a rent. Other than that, for the love of Pete, keep your kids away from this one.
Language: More than enough F-words to fill a 120 page screenplay. And that's just the F-words!
Sex: One of the main themes is sex and there are a few scenes that very graphically simulate it.
Violence: Gory at times and violent but if it's any consolation Scorcese still has the drops on this one.
Positive Themes: The usual teen themes-friendship, love, discovering yourself and your strengths.
Negative Themes: Murder, lies, sexual manipulation and way more!
