The Hurt Locker Sweeps Up!

Among the roster of Academy Award winning director's, which has, since it's inception, been mostly a sausage fest, you can add the name Kathryn Bigelow for the first female director to ever win an Academy Award. What for? The Hurt Locker, which also breaks new strides in being that it is the first Best Picture winner to be about war on terror. But perhaps the most intriguing thing about the whole shebang is the fact that her ex-husband was sitting behind her, nominated for the very same category. James Cameron's Avatar was up for the same award.
